The film makes reference to an invention that was very new in 1930. W.C. Fields' character asks the hotel clerk: "Any telegrams? Cablegrams? Radio? Television?"

When the paper from the pie are interfering with Bellweather's golf swing, the whirring sound of the fan blowing them can be heard clearly on the sound track.
