Aviator Jim Blaine and his brother Neil are rivals not only as daredevil flyers, but also for the love of parachutist Jill Collins.
The airplane depicted as having crashed at the beginning of the film is a Ford Trimotor, registration NC127H. However, this number belonged (and as of 2018 still does) to a 1929 Curtis Robin. The squadron of biplanes shown taking off simultaneously for the search are Boeing P-12s. In that sequence, a twin-engine biplane can be seen, which is a rare glimpse of a Keystone LB-7, of which only 18 were made and was used as a light bomber by the U.S. Army Air Corps.
James 'Jim' Blaine:
Well, just because you're hungry you don't have to buy a restaurant, do you?
When the parachute is pulled from the tree, you can see the ropes that had been holding it there in place to support the weight of the parachutist.
