On the second floor of a Brooklyn recording studio nestled between an ice cream parlor and bridal shop, the Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson is wailing through “Struttin’ Blues,” a deep cut on the group’s 1990 debut album, Shake Your Money Maker. His on-again, off-again bandmate and on-again, off-again brother Rich is two feet away, locking eyes with drummer Raj Ojha as he tears into the muscular blues-rock track.
“It’s just the way it sounded in 1990,” Chris says to no one in particular. “Which was the last time we played that.

What does a working girl have to do to get ahead, when all she has in her favor is an incredible face, a lavish wardrobe, and a pair of legs to make any executive wolf howl? Loretta Young juggles two egotistical swains, while Joan Blondell shines as an enticing all-pro homewrecker.

A blazing Black Crowes redo. An overnight transformation. Rehearsal-room drama. Robyn unplugged. Hmm. Night 3 of The Voice’s Battle Rounds must’ve been pretty decent, especially for what you’ve mentioned is a subpar Season 12, because by the end of it, even Adam Levine’s Gwen Stefani-blond ‘do was starting to grow on me. Let’s review Monday’s performances, shall we, then you can play favorites in the comments.

This is Us has emerged as not only one of the most popular shows on television but also the most emotional. There’s rarely a moment that won’t lend itself to the audience bursting into tears. As we, the audience try to cope with some of the devastation of the show we don’t often think about how the cast members themselves cope. As it turns out E! Online decided to ask the cast members how they deal with all of the drama that comes along with playing these characters. Sterling K. Brown’s wife said, “It’s when he reads the script, that’s

Glenn here. Each Tuesday we bring you reviews and features on documentaries from theatres, festivals, and on demand.
Gillian Armstrong is nearly as prolific as a documentarian as she is a dramatic filmmaker. While the likes of her “Seven Years On” series (an Australian 7 Up), her Bob Dylan concert doc Hard to Handle, or the true crime murder mystery of an interior design queen in Unfolding Florence aren’t as well-known as her collaborations with Judy Davis, Cate Blanchett, Mel Gibson, and Winona Ryder, they are eclectic and passionate works nonetheless. As she said in her interview with Jose last year at Toronto, “there’s a different art to making documentaries” and unlike many other directors who split their time between mediums, her documentaries do feel distinctly unique from her other work and yet equally essential.
Her latest non-fiction work is Women He’s Undressed, a peek behind the velvet curtain at Orry-Kelly,...

There’s a reason I wiped the most recent season of The Bachelorette from my DVR after only two episodes: I don’t actually enjoy watching real people get engaged on television. (Fictional characters? Get down on bended knee and keep doing your thing!)
This might explain the recurring waves of nameless dread I felt during Monday’s installment of The Voice, as host Carson Daly repeatedly teased how “coming up after the break” (after the break) (after the break that’s after the break) (because apparently we’re all going to change the channel to DWTS if there’s...

I could kick off this recap of The Voice‘s final set of Knockout Rounds complaining about Carson Daly’s “coming up on…” teases — and how they snuff out suspense like a fire hose pointed at a toddler’s birthday candles. But no — this time around I’m gonna focus on the positives:
* We were treated to four or five performances during the two-hour telecast that were promising enough to signal a potential Season 5 champ.
* While at least one terrific prospect walked the guillotine, the two remaining Steals were used in ways that did not leave me blind with rage.

Welcome back, "Voice" fans! It's Night 2 of the Knockout Rounds, with coaches Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, CeeLo Green and Blake Shelton continuing to chop their teams in half to determine the Top 20 artists who will move onto Season 5's live shows, beginning next week. Did the right singers advance? Let's find out!
Knockout #1: Team Adam's Lina Gaudenzi vs. Preston Pohl
Lina Gaudenzi: "I'd Rather Go Blind" (Etta James)
Lina chooses the Etta James track because she wants to show off the more soulful side to her voice, but she seems to struggle with the finding the intensity the song demands. Adam tells her she's dancing around the song, rather than just singing it. During her performance, she certainly has the audience on her side. She may rely on her vibrato a bit too much, but it's still a high-energy performance that finds her improving on Adam's notes.

Following the fifth episode of The Voice UK, Digital Spy presents our top five blind auditions from the show.
Jamie Bruce - The 6' 5" singer blew the judges away with his deep voice. His version of 'Try a Little Tenderness' got will so excited he even forgot to pose as he turned his chair. Despite the 'Scream & Shout' star saying he was "blown away" by his voice, the 34-year-old went with Tom.
Paul Carden - His previous band experience was obvious as he pranced around the stage holding his microphone stand in a Freddie Mercury-esque way. Danny turned his chair right at the last minute and the Scouser won a slot on his team with a gravelly take on the Bruno Mars track 'Locked Out of Heaven'.
Jordan Lee Davies - The 22-year-old admitted to not being your average-looking popstar, but as the son of a bodybuilder he...

It's week five and the teams are filling up quickly. Each coach added to their vastly different teams, but which is your favourite? Digital Spy takes a look at the new additions.
Team will
High-pitched Jordan Lee Davies won a place on the producer's team after his version of The Darkness hit 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love'. The South Wales boy was praised for his range, but will his falsetto win the public vote?
will also turned for duo Nu-tarna after hearing their very loud version of Katy Perry's 'Part of Me'. Kelly and Elesha made will spin for the huge amount of energy in their performance, but will it be too much for the public?
will currently has the smallest team, with a total of nine performers. He still has three spaces to fill.

A couple of days ago the next entry on the Batman: Arkham Asylum series was announced, and while most of what we’ve heard sounds really cool, we still have to be cautious about the game. It’s happened before, we are excited about some game that promises to be the next big thing, and it turns out it’s just a piece of garbage. And this one appears that it will be quite different to the other two games, and the threequel curse isn’t limited to movies.
While most of the criticism towards the game is very reasonable, some of the criticism is just nonsensical (ugh, why the game is called Arkham Origins if it isn’t focused on Arkham and it doesn’t show the origins of neither the Asylum or Batman).
However let’s focus more on actual facts rather than some fanboys ranting, and like I said before,...

The Warner Archive has released two more volumes in their “Forbidden Hollywood” series. Marijuana, Lesbians -And-William Powell speaks Yiddish!
Forbidden Hollywood-Volumes 4 & 5 have been released by Warner Archive Collection. I have been a big fan of this series since The VHS/laser disc days. These pre-code films are a hell-of-a-lot-of-fun to watch, and no one did them better than Warner Brothers. As my cinema guru , Tom Dillon ["The Sage of Grammercy Park"] once said: “You wanna take a shower after watching a good pre-Cceighte Warner Bros. film!” These 8 films are great examples of that genre.
Volume 4-all 1932
Jewell Robbery-William Powell and Kay Francis star in this story of a high society jewel thief who uses marijuana, amongst other things, to get what he wants. Directed by William Dieterle
Lawyer Man- William Powell and Joan Blondell. Powell stars as a lawyer who workds his way up from the lower east side to Park Ave.
