      In 1934, when the movie was released, Adolf Hitler wished peace with Poland and wanted more strength in the foreign policy. MInister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels signed a German-polish media agreement in order to create an atmosphere of friendship and reconciliation between the countries. Due to that it was order to play more music by Chopin on the radio and in the theaters. Germany supported Poland by buying original handwritten pieces by Chopin. It all ended due to the Anglo-Polish military alliance of 1939 which had the subject of Poland's independence. Afterwards Chopin's music was forbidden in Germany and was considered as revolutionary propaganda.

      The Polish Upraising that is portrayed in the movie started in November 1830, which is why it was called "November Upraising". In the movie the events take place in June 1831.
