The tigers within the plotting of this serial are not a mistake. Though native to Asia, the tigers in this serial's plot are the offspring of the ones who were shipwrecked along the African coast with Joan Redmond.
Many of the tribal songs and drums heard along with footage of "African natives" are actually those of Native Americans, apparently dubbed into the soundtrack in post production.
In scenes of a lion attacking either Jungle Jim or Mike, it is actually Mel Koontz and his trained lion Jackie. This lion was trained by Mel Koontz to do this. It may look like the lion is attacking, but its more play. Jackie was the MGM lion seen at the beginning of MGM movies. He was the second lion used, and the first lion to roar at the beginning of movies; MGM studios referred to him as Leo the Lion.
