One of over 700 Paramount Productions, filmed between 1929 and 1949, which were sold to MCA/Universal in 1958 for television distribution, and have been owned and controlled by Universal ever since. It was released on DVD 1 November 2016 as part of the Universal Vault Series.
"Lux Radio Theater" broadcast a 60 minute radio adaptation of the movie on
March 5, 1945 with Akim Tamiroff reprising his film role.
Lamour's raised-in-China character is named Hilton. Presumably this is a hat-tip to James Hilton, whose own set-in-China novel, "Lost Horizon," had been filmed two years earlier.
