They haven't even unpacked or entered the house after getting back from Hollywood, and the Jones family is already out on another adventure when they retrieve a letter indicating that they have been requested a gold mine in the middle of the Grand Canyon. so within minutes after getting out of their trailer, they are back in it and within another minute, they are seen heading up and down hilly trails on mules trying to locate the mine. Of course, they become involved with some grifters trying to get the mine away from them for cheap, and that leads to them believing that the old mine house is haunted.

It's obvious from the start that this storyline is preposterous, that they don't even go back into the house to freshen up before heading out again. The fact that wife Spring byington and mother Florence Roberts don't really offer any sound advice to buffoon patriarch Jed Prouty is also unbelievable as they are smart characters who always kept him from getting into messes that he couldn't get out of. this is also one of the few episodes in the series where the kids are completely cooperative and don't gripe at all. That's gives it an inconsistency for those who have seen other episodes of the short-lived Jones Family series. enjoyable for what it is, it's a pleasant way to spend an hour that doesn't tax the brain.
