George O'Brien had been a boxing champion of the Pacific Fleet during WWI. His expertise shows during his fight with Harry Woods, as O'Brien continually holds both hands high to his chest, blocks with his left, and throws short rights, unlike other stars of the time who threw wild windmill punches all over. The studios also liked to showcase his barrel chest and big biceps by putting him in tight fitting shirts, as he wears in this movie.
