A mad scientist develops an aftershave lotion that causes his gigantic bats to kill anyone who wears it.
This was the first, and most successful, horror film from Producers Releasing Corporation (PRC) after it was formed from the failed Producers Distrubuting Corporation (PDC). Filming began October 28 1940.

At 8:30, when the doctor is in the lab "feeding" the bat the fragrance, the bat's head and body are all black. In the stock footage cutaway to the closeup of the bat, the bat's body is white.
[Prologue] All Heathville loved Paul Carruthers, their kindly village doctor. No one suspected that in his home laboratory on a hillside overlooking the magnificent estate of Martin Heath, the doctor found time to conduct certain private experiments -- weird, terrifying experiments.
