Following the death of a publishing tycoon, news reporters scramble to discover the meaning of his final utterance.
Although Marion Davies is frequently held up as the model for Susan Alexander Kane, the character was more likely to have been influenced by opera-singer-turned-film-actress Hope Hampton and opera-singer-turned-botanical-garden-founder Madama Ganna Walska.
Charles Foster Kane:
When Kane returns from Europe, he enters the Inquirer news room and rushes towards the camera, which dollies back. At this point, and when he subsequently leaves, the dolly track is visible on the floor.
The film's opening title card is presented in complete silence, briefly with no music.
Some of the Turner prints have the famous RKO logo removed and replaced with the Turner logo.
