Since i know very little German ,It was hard for to under stand the complex plot. A bunch of German Country folks find a Venus Demilo in the 1930's. A small convenient for the movies version. It get's in the news paper. All of Germany finds out. It shows Germany's Weimar district in the 1930's. The costumes , especially the womens hairdos and bonnets, are accurate but they don't let you know how many years alter in the thirties it is after it was found. If it takes place after 1930 ,like 31 or 32 then why are the citizens doing the zig hile . If it takes place the year Hitler was dictator by that time bonnets were out of style. Now Siegfried Breuer has the statue in the closet of his museum ready to show as he talks it over to a young Rudolph Vogel. The artist at the art school including Peter Martin Urtel, of Camrades 1941 fame. Tghey all think it's interesting but even the professor Semmel Bildhauer, played By Joseph Eichheim, don't take it seriously. But then it's finally displayed in the museum and introduced to the public by a high pitched voice associate of the museum, was this suppose to be a gay character?Or was it that high pitch voice actor who was in Munchausen, who played that castrated slave of the sultan? Well it becomes so big that night clubs have shows about it. They make plaster copy's of it.Greeting cards of it. It has such a big impact that it badly affects the art students work. The public is less interested in seeing their art, they are mad. Then all of a sudden it's busted . yes the poor statues is found obscene in the public. It's now on trial, the artist like this. One of them goes to the small folk village where it was found to see if one of the people can testified against it . He meets the mayor , by good character actor Paul Dahlke,But he has no interest in testifying. Then he goes to the mayors house to try to convince him.He meets his daughter,I think its his daughter. She testifies against the statues. Durring the trial Hans Brauswetter plays one of the judges. Hubert Von Meyerink is at the trial as the professor, I don't know whether the poor state won or not. I didn't understand it fully. I know Pqaul Dahlke's character was angry with the students. This movie might be available in a better print and sound at Reichs kino.up date 03/17/11 I got the story clearly, it was a bad print I was watching. A statue of Venus is found in a Bavaria and is sold to a Jewish art dealer who sells it for an outrageous sum to the government. An young Artist claims later that it isn't original. That he created it and buried it to prove how Jewish art is degenerate. This is the reason why the statue is on trial
