The final gag is a reference to an "A" sticker, part of a World War II rationing sticker system in the US. An "A" sticker was put on a car that had the lowest priority of gasoline rationing and entitled the car owner to 3 to 4 US gallons (aka 11 to 15 liters or 2.5 to 3.3 UK gallons) of gas per week. Four other stickers were used in this system as well: "B" for workers in the military industry (up to 8 US gallons aka 30 liters aka 6.7 UK gallons), "C" for professionals essential to the war effort like medical personnel, "T" for truckers, and "X" for professionals essential to everyday life like clergy, police, firefighters or civil defense workers, allowing them unlimited supply of fuel.
