Don Ameche, who had previously co-starred with Alice Faye in no less than six movies (including In Old Chicago (1938), Alexander's Ragtime Band (1938), and That Night in Rio (1941)), was supposed to co-star with her in this movie as well. But Ameche was too busy filming Heaven Can Wait (1943) with Ernst Lubitsch, so James Ellison was cast as a replacement. In the movie, Alice Faye tells Ellison, "Stop acting like Don Ameche!" - an "inside joke," since audiences watching the film would know that Ellison's role was the "Don Ameche role."
