In turn-of-the-century San Francisco, an ambitious vaudevillian takes his quartet from a honky tonk to the big time, while spurning the love of his troupe's star singer for a selfish heiress.
"I've Gotta Have You" (music by Harry Warren, lyrics by Mack Gordon), sung by June Havoc, was deleted from the movie. Miss Havoc's prerecording was released 1976 on the Out Take Records LP (which later would be reissued by DRG), "Cut! Out Takes From Hollywood's Greatest Musicals, Volume One."
