This is one of only five films to receive two Academy Award nominations for Best Actress. In this instance, Anne Baxter and Bette Davis were so nominated. The other four films were Suddenly, Last Summer (1959) for which Katharine Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor were nominated, Terms of Endearment (1983) for which Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger were nominated, Thelma & Louise (1991) for which Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon were nominated and The Turning Point (1977) for which Anne Bancroft and Shirley MacLaine were nominated. Of the actresses in question, MacLaine is the only one to win the Academy Award for Best Actress for the relevant performance.

Goofs

When Eve tells her life story in the dressing room, she says "then the war came, and we got married. Eddie was in the air force - and they sent him to the South Pacific." The Air Force, wasn't formed until after the war in 1947. During the war it was called the Army Air Forces.


Crazy Credits

Eddie Fisher is credited in the cast as 'Stage Manager,' although all of his scenes were cut from the released print. This is not the the singer Eddie Fisher, but another actor.
