Drummer Stanley Maxton moves to Los Angeles with dreams of opening his own club, but falls in with a gangster and a nightclub dancer and ends up accused of murder.
Sally Forrest had toiled at MGM since 1946, appearing as a dancer in Till the Clouds Roll By (1946), The Kissing Bandit (1948) and Take Me Out to the Ball Game (1949). She achieved her first co-starring role at the studio opposite Ricardo Montalban in Mystery Street (1950), which led to a short string of second-tier leads until MGM unceremoniously dropped her option in 1953.

After the dance number with Jane and the three guys with serving trays, they place the trays behind him and the sticks on the bottom they held while dancing were clearly visible, but cut to the next shot and the trays are flat on the floor.
