In the movie Dream Scenario, starring Nicholas Cage, a biology professor named Paul Matthews starts appearing in the nightmares of random people all over the country.
None of these people understand why, nor do they know anything about Paul beyond recognizing his unusual face -- which gives them flashbacks of the terrible dream.
Paul himself is perplexed because he has not intentionally done anything to these people, nor is he a Freddy Krueger-type monster who controls a higher plane of existence.
But when Paul becomes infamous for his cameo appearances in peoples' dreams, he begins to see scorn, fear, hatred, and eventually violence coming from people who hold him personally responsible for their nightmares.
As I finished Dream Scenario, I realized this is what some right-leaning celebrities must feel like.

No, this is not a joke at all. One royal expert has gone on the record to say that Queen Camilla is the best thing that has ever happened to the royal family.
She has been praised for being a remarkable Queen of England, too. The royal expert says that if it weren’t for Camilla, the royal family wouldn’t be in the position that they are in today. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

Since the February 2nd episode of Friday Night SmackDown, The Rock has made a highly anticipated return to WWE programming, hinting at his regular involvement leading up to WrestleMania 40. His ongoing feud with Cody Rhodes is set to reach its climax at WrestleMania 40, where he will join forces with Roman Reigns in what promises to be a blockbuster showdown.
Fans are undoubtedly excited about a potential showdown between The Rock and Roman Reigns, but there were concerns about Cody Rhodes’ storyline potentially getting overshadowed. Initially, these concerns loomed large, but a more balanced approach has been adopted. This shift in focus has altered the trajectory of WrestleMania 40’s storyline, resulting in a more enjoyable experience for fans following the initial backlash.

While underrated upon its release, as John Carpenter’s The Thing failed to make it big commercially following its competition with other sci-fi releases at the time, time has been kind to it. Not only has the sci-fi horror gone on to garner cult status, but many have also deemed it among one of the greatest films the genre has to offer, even deeming it more important than Carpenter’s Halloween.
And the film’s influence is significantly visible in InnerSloth LLC’s Among Us. Hence, it only makes sense for the upcoming adaptation of the game to take further inspiration from the horror, and following its synopsis, it seems like the case.

The highest grossing director of all time, Steven Spielberg enjoys high-brow classics as much as crowd-pleasing blockbusters. Known for “Jurassic Park,” “Indiana Jones,” “Jaws,” “West Side Story” (2021), and more favorites, the beloved American filmmaker premiered his semi-autobiographical “The Fabelmans” in theaters last November.
The movie, nominated for seven Oscars (winning none), tells the story of how Spielberg came to be Spielberg — chiefly through the lens of his parents’ traumatic divorce. Boasting a cast that includes not just Michelle Williams and Paul Dano as Spielberg’s mom and dad, but also David Lynch in a rare acting opportunity, “The Fabelmans” was described by IndieWire’s David Ehrlich as an epic rendering of “the breakup that launched a million blockbusters.”
Following the contemplative mood of two-ish years in Covid-19 lockdown, the 2022 fall film season was chockfull of projects meditating on the role — and, in the case of “TÁR,” responsibility — of artists. How...

June 1982 saw the release of not one, but two movies about aliens bonding with humans. Both of them are remembered today as early masterpieces that confirm their directors’ skill and vision. One, of course, is Steven Spielberg‘s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, which released on June 11, 1982. Two weeks later came The Thing, directed by John Carpenter. But in 1982, only E.T. earned praise.
“In fact the film was an enormous failure,” Carpenter recently told The Guardian in his typically blunt manner in a feature that published Tuesday morning. But then that’s about as nostalgic as Carpenter often sounds, even while discussing his first studio picture which remade one of his favorite movies: 1951’s The Thing From Another World.
Although he scuttled the chummy tone of the 1951 movie , opting instead for the paranoia of the source material, the 1938 novella Who Goes There? by John W. Campbell, Carpenter still lavished in the...

Shogun, the new show from FX, has already become one of the biggest hits of the year, and the first season is yet to conclude. The premiere ratcheted up over 9 million views, and its popularity is only going up. With Hiroyuki Sanada playing one of the key characters on the show, Disney has hit the jackpot.
As the audience is taken on a journey that sees three plots eventually converge, it has been hailed as the new Game of Thrones. There is a good reason for the comparison too, since it boasts of a rich world filled with political intrigue and thrill with a smattering of gore.

Based on the historical novel written by James Clavell in 1975, this is only the second time that the book has been adapted into a television series.

Patty Jenkins, who directed the two Wonder Woman movies in the Dceu, reveals one disappointing update for the fans who were thinking about the third installment in the film series. Meanwhile, she has confirmed that she’s back to working on Rogue Squadron now.
Gal Gadot in and as Wonder Woman
Patty Jenkins’ 2017 film starring Gal Gadot as the DC superhero Wonder Woman was a box office hit, prompting a sequel, which was released in 2020. However, the sequel could not perform as expected as the movie only managed to gross $166 million worldwide (per The Numbers) against a production budget of $200 million.

Jenkins is now shifting her focus to the starfighter-based film Rogue Squadron. But one thing is sure, Wonder Woman 3 is no longer taking flight.

It’s not the near sweep that Oppenheimer had, but ABC certainly has something to celebrate out of last night’s Academy Awards.
With the final numbers in, 19.5M viewers tuned in to watch the 2024 Oscars, according to Nielsen data. That’s a 4% win over the 18.8 million who tuned in for the 95th annual Academy Awards in 2023, propelling the show to a 4-year audience high.
The telecast also was at a 3.8 demo rating, compared with last year’s 4.0 — down, but not by much.
Perhaps it was naked John Cena or Ryan Gosling’s energizing performance of Barbie‘s “I’m Just Ken” that pushed the audience over the edge.

The 96th Academy Awards ceremony should be known as the Cannes Oscars, argues Cannes Film Festival director Thierry Frémaux.
He’s got a point.
Frémaux sipped a cocktail at the Charles Finch and Chanel Annual Pre-Oscar Dinner in the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and ticked off Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall and Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone of Interest as films that played and won the top prizes at last May’s festival.
Michael Barker, Sony Picture Classics co-chair, helped Frémaux out by adding in Martin Scorsese’s The Killers of the Flower Moon, which also premiered on the Croisette.
“Here we are in March, and the top winners at last year’s Cannes are still in the conversation, and are here at the Oscars,” says Frémaux, giving himself a pat on the back.

On a recent podcast, filmmaker Steven Soderbergh pivoted the conversation to Alfred Hitchcock’s work, examining why, decades later, the auteur’s grip on audiences remains so tight. “[The reason] we still watch Hitchcock movies, and that they don’t feel as dated as some other films, is that they’re all about guilt,” Soderbergh posited. “Every Hitchcock movie is about guilt — and guilt’s not going anywhere.” If what Soderbergh says is true, then why is guilt so evergreen?
I listened to the podcast after watching Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone of Interest, a masterpiece that belongs in the category of Great Art (an imperfect term, but one I stand by). The 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards went largely according to script Saturday night on Netflix, but with just enough surprises to keep things interesting. (See the SAG winners list.) Here are five key takeaways from this year’s ceremony.
1. Subtle performances dominate film categories.
While we’ve seen quieter portrayals have greater success at the Oscars in recent years, the guild has generally still gone with flashier performances. This year, Lily Gladstone in “Killers of the Flower Moon,” Cillian Murphy in “Oppenheimer” and Da’Vine Joy Randolph in “The Holdovers” managed to land SAG trophies for their relatively subdued acting — especially in comparison to some of their show-stopping rivals. Perhaps guild members are following the lead of the academy and realizing that less is sometimes more when it comes to fine dramatics.

Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
The law of horror movie franchises is that eventually, without fail, you go to space.
It’s fitting, then, that the final outing for prolific Amityville writer/director Mark Polonia takes the “franchise” into the furthest reaches of space in the year 3015.
It’s been a few entries since Polonia’s last outing. He’s the creative responsible for Amityville Island, Amityville Exorcism, and Amityville Death House. Of these, Island has some amusingly self-aware bits, Death House has a great spider walk finale, and…well, the less said about Exorcism the better.
Where does Amityville in Space fall? Alas, it skews closer to Exorcism than the others. Not helping matters is that this latest film shares a character – Father Benna (Jeff Kirkendall...

Marvel‘s first family has finally assembled. Marvel Studios has now officially announced the performers that will be playing The Fantastic Four in the 2025 film of the same name.
Reflecting the importance of this superhero team to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are some big names involved including Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards and Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm. Slightly lesser known but no less interesting are Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) as Ben Grimm.
We’ve got a ways to go before The Fantastic Four premieres on July 25, 2025 so let’s spend some of that time delving deeper into an unheralded member of the film’s cast. We’re speaking, of course, about Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Though he just won his first Primetime Emmy Award for his role as Richie Jerimovich in FX’s brilliant The Bear, this Massachusetts-born actor has been putting...

In its credits, John Carpenter's 1982 alien invasion film "The Thing" is based on John W. Campbell's 1938 novella "Who Goes There?," but owes far more of a creative debt to Christian Nyby's 1951 adaptation "The Thing from Another World." Carpenter loved Nyby's film, and even featured a clip of it in his 1978 horror film "Halloween." "The Thing" notoriously bombed on its initial release, a failure some chalk up to the presence of Steven Spielberg's ultra-sentimental "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" which opened only two weeks before. It seems that audiences wanted sweetness and wonderment in 1982, and likely felt the paranoia, death, violence, and gloppy ooze in Carpenter's film to be too much of a bleak throwback.
In the ensuing decades, genre fans rescued "The Thing," coming to appreciate its eerie, dreadful atmosphere, its harder-than-stone characters, and its amazing, amazing practical creature effects (provided by Rob Bottin). In 2024, "The Thing" is...

Out of all upcoming MCU projects scheduled to be developed and released in the next couple of years, none generates as much hype as the ‘Fantastic Four.’ While Marvel Studios is keeping the official cast under a tight lid. Rumors point in the direction of Pedro Pascal playing Reed Richards with Vanessa Kirby playing Sue Storm. It’s also heavily rumored that Ebon Moss-Bachrach has been cast as The Thing and he recently even gave an interesting statement to the press regarding it.
The fact that Pedro Pascal will be most likely playing Reed Richards was leaked several months ago and the fact is basically mainstream knowledge, we’re also happy to announce that the news was confirmed by Pedro’s SAG-AFTRA profile, and not only that, the profile also states that he will soon begin production on ‘Fantastic Four.’

Law & Order: Svu’s Latest Case Thrusts Fin and Bruno Into Uncharted Territory — Exclusive Sneak Peek
Law & Order: Svu‘s Sgt. Odafin Tutuola has been a sex-crimes cop for decades. But as tonight’s episode (NBC, 9/8c) proves, every once in a while, even he gets pitched a curveball.
In the exclusive clip above from “The Punch List,” Fin and Det. Bruno visit a man they believe was sexually assaulted the night before. But they run into quite a bit of interference, starting with the fact that the man — played by guest star David Krumholtz (Numb3rs, The Plot Against America) — claims to have absolutely no knowledge of the attack or the circumstances surrounding it.

Kurt Russell has been doing the press rounds for the Godzilla series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and if there’s one thing that this press tour has made very clear, it’s the fact that people loves to talk to Russell about John Carpenter’s 1982 classic The Thing (watch or buy it Here). The latest ones to bring up The Thing him were the folks at GQ, and this time Russell took the opportunity to reveal that he wasn’t a fan of the sombrero Carpenter had his character MacReady wear.
Russell told GQ (with thanks to Syfy Wire for the transcription of the video), “I went into wardrobe … and when I was in there, I noticed, sitting over on this chair by itself, was this enormous sombrero. And finally, at some point, I said to the wardrobe person, ‘What’s the deal with the sombrero?’ And they said, ‘Oh,...

It’s hard to imagine nowadays, but humans weren’t always at the top of the food chain. And with our ancestors being preyed upon by larger mammals and even our fellow humanoids, it stands to reason that we’d develop a generalized fear of the dark. That’s why it makes sense that cold places where the sun doesn’t routinely rise are naturally suited for spooky stories.
This is precisely what showrunner Issa López had in mind when she came up with HBO’s True Detective: Night Country, a brand-new murder mystery that returns the anthology show to its horrific roots. And with new episodes dropping weekly, we’ve decided to help viewers get an additional fix of frigid frights by recommending six arctic thrillers to watch after Td: Night Country.
As usual, don’t forget to comment below with your own arctic favorites if you think we missed a particularly spooky one.

We can now rule out two things when it comes to Kara Killmer’s forthcoming exit from Chicago Fire: Wednesday’s Season 12 premiere (NBC, 9/8c) will not be the actress’ final episode, and her swan-song arc as Sylvie Brett will not go according to the paramedic’s plan.
Last we saw Brett, she was on the cusp of adopting baby Julia and was being proposed to by on-and-off ex-boyfriend Matt Casey (played by Jesse Spencer), who got down on bended knee, diamond ring in hand. “Sylvie Brett, we were meant to be. Will you make me and three kids...

Issa López's "True Detective: Night Country," the fourth season of the pulp crime series created by Nic Pizzolatto, kicks off with one heck of a hook. Scientists holed up at the Tsalal Research Station on the outskirts of Ennis, Alaska (which is itself on the outskirts of civilization in the sparsely populated state) are winding down after a long day of doing ... well, whatever it is they do up there (the first episode does not make this clear). They're doing laundry, making dinner, settling in for a movie ("Ferris Bueller's Day Off") with a bowl of microwave popcorn, and evidently content to be where they are.
And then, in an instant, they're not there anymore.
A delivery man who shows up with supplies, expecting help in unloading his truck, wanders through the station seemingly seconds after the sequence we've just observed (Matthew Broderick is still rocking out to The...

Chicago Fire Boss Previews Taylor Kinney’s Return: Severide’s Got Tension With More Than Just Stella
Chicago Fire fans will no doubt be happy to finally see Taylor Kinney back in next Wednesday’s Season 12 premiere (NBC, 9/8c), but Severide’s homecoming won’t be a smooth one.
After Kinney took a leave of absence last January to deal with a personal matter, his character departed for an arson investigation training program in Alabama, which led to him being recruited to help with an Atf investigation — something which he failed to mention to his wife Stella! In the Season 11 finale, Severide’s other half went to go bring her husband back home, and while it seems...

David Bruckner – who previously remade Hellraiser – is to write and direct a new take on The Blob for Warner Bros.
Over 60 years after a bunch of devout Christians changed cinema history by making The Blob, there’s a new take on the oozing sci-fi horror classic in the works at Warner Bros.
As first reported by The Wrap, the remake will be written and directed by David Bruckner, who previously made the 2022 remake of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser and, among other things, The Night House (2020) and The Ritual (2017).
Like Hellraiser and The Night House, the new Blob will be produced by David S Goyer and Keith Levine via their company, Phantom Four Productions. The Wrap also reports that Judith Harris – widow of Jack H Harris, the film distributor who brought the 1958 and 1988 versions of the movie to the screen – will be credited as executive producer.

For all you "Saltburn" fans out there (we at /Film consider it the best "Wtf Movie" of 2023), you may have to wait a bit longer for director Emerald Fennell's next project. In an interview on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, Fennell confirmed her film with DC Studios — an adaptation of the magical comic book hero Zatanna — is not moving forward.
Fennell was announced as the writer of the "Zatanna" movie in March 2021, fresh off her directorial debut "Promising Young Woman" the previous year. She was not confirmed to be the director of "Zatanna" and from these recent comments, it sounds like that was never the plan. As Fennell explained, J.J. Picture: Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester – MGM Television
As the platform’s most successful English-speaking Original series, we aren’t surprised that Netflix is building a franchise around Wednesday, beginning with a spin-off series centered around Wednesday Addams’ eccentric Uncle Fester.
It has been reported that conversations about a spin-off have been ongoing while MGM Television has been prepping for the second season of Wednesday. The second season is moving production from Romania to Ireland, which is expected to begin filming in April 2024.
Fred Armisen is expected to reprise his role as Uncle Fester, who only had a fleeting appearance in the first season of Wednesday. Notably, in his one-episode appearance, Uncle Fester helped revive Thing after Wednesday found the hand stabbed and pinned against the wall. He also helped Wednesday identify the monster running rampant at Nevermore Academy as a Hyde.

For what was originally intended to be an educational kid’s show that used time-travel as an excuse for history lessons, it’s amazing just how much BBC’s Doctor Who has evolved since its debut back in 1963. From low-budget war stories taking advantage of existing period-piece sets to small-screen epics featuring CGI that rivals many modern blockbusters, there’s something here for everyone – even horror fans.
In fact, the show has a long history of scaring its viewers, with even genre creators like Neil Gaiman famously claiming to have watched certain episodes from behind the couch to protect himself from its numerous monsters. And with this sci-fi saga currently celebrating its 60th anniversary, we thought that this might be a good time to highlight six of the scariest monsters from the 60 years of Doctor Who history.

Gary Dauberman had a good thing going at Warner Bros. for several years. He worked on the screenplays for the company’s two-part adaptation of Stephen King’s novel It, scripted the Conjuring Universe films Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation, and The Nun, co-created the 2019 Swamp Thing TV show, and wrote and directed Annabelle Comes Home. But then he wrote and directed an adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Salem’s Lot for the company… and two years after principal photography wrapped, they still haven’t figured out what they want to do with his Salem’s Lot. So it’s no surprise that Dauberman is now set up at a different company. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Dauberman has signed a first-look deal with Sony’s Screen Gems for feature films. He is expected to “create projects for himself while curating a slate featuring established and up-and-coming filmmakers.”

The story behind the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special is the focus of the documentary A Disturbance in the Force, which — following its premiere at Sundance earlier this year — will head to streaming and DVD this December.
The ill-fated special, which aired Thanksgiving weekend in 1978, is now legend: Fresh off the success of Star Wars, George Lucas was talked into capitalizing on the craze in the form of a holiday-themed TV special, but what resulted was a “Life Day” celebration that hued closer to a Seventies variety show than The Mandalorian.

There's a piece of advice that every writer gets at some point in their career, and it goes like this: "Write what you know."
It's not bad advice if you don't take it too literally. "Write what you know" doesn't mean that you should only write about your own autobiographical experiences, it means that when you do write from experience you'll probably be able to write more truthfully, more meaningfully, and in more detail than if you had to make it all up from scratch. The irony of course is that as writers keep on writing, eventually "what they know" the most about is being a writer. You may have noticed that a whole...

The host, a huge film nerd, revealed to the audience that his go to comfort movie food is 1982’s The Thing. Reviled by critics and cinema goers at the time for being too gory and violent, while expecting a remake of Christian Nyby’s and Howard Hawks’s black & white version of 1951’s The Thing From Another World, the movie was almost forgotten… until sci-fi and horror fans decided differently. In the decades since, the film saw new life with VHS, Laserdisc and Blu-ray/DVD. The film has a killer score composed by Ennio Morricone, organic, non-cgi effects from Rob Bottin and one of the best posters ever from Drew Struzan.
