TV Series | TV-PG | | Western
Western stories and legends based, and filmed, in and around Death Valley, California. One of the longest-running Western series, originating on radio in the 1930s. The continuing sponsor was "20 Mule Team" Borax, a product formerly mined in Death Valley.
During its run, the series was also honored with awards from the Governors of three states (California, Nevada, and Utah), the University of Washington, and historical societies, such as the Native Daughters of the Golden West.
The social norms and attitudes expressed during the series often did not match those of its 1850 to early 1870s settings. Most of the values expressed were those of its 1950s and 1960s filming period.
Episodes were syndicated under four different titles: "The Pioneers," "Trails West," "Western Star Theater" and "Call of the West."
