What do the 25th and 75th Tony Awards have in common? The landmark Stephen Sondheim/George Furth musical “Company,” Angela Lansbury and the beloved tuner “The Music Man.”
The gender-bender revival of “Company” is considered the front-runner for the Tony for Best Musical Revival as well as featured actress for Broadway legend Patti LuPone who brings down the house with “Ladies Who Lunch.” Elaine Stritch originated the LuPone’s character of Joanne; her rendition of “Ladies Who Lunch” is considered one of the indelible show-stopping numbers in Broadway history. Stritch was considered a shoo-in for lead actress but lost to Helen Gallagher for the revival of -the 1920s musical “No, No Nanette.” Go figure. Gallagher was good, but she wasn’t as great as Stritch.
The original “Company” waltzed into the Tony Awards — which took place at the Palace Theatre on March 28, 1971 — with a whopping 14 nominations and won six including Best Musical,...

Walker Hayes named his new album after his favorite expression: “boom.” But maybe it’s also the sound of a career taking off after 13 years of taxiing the runway.
“It’s just unreal,” Hayes tells People about the album’s debut on Friday. “It’s almost like my team wants to slap me in the face every now and then and be like, ‘Hey, do you get what’s going on? Are you even excited?’ I think what they don’t understand is that it’s just so hard to digest. It’s just taken so long, and I just can’t believe it.

I've always wondered what it would be like to spend an entire day with someone like Derek Hough, the actor, choreographer and singer who became famous for his time as a professional dancer on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. I’ve interviewed him countless times on red carpets or inside industry events, but I never expected a day in the park with him to be so intimate or inspiring.
I recently joined the performer on a visit to the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore in Porter, Indiana, along the southern shore of Lake Michigan. Hough was there in celebration of the National Park Foundation's "Find Your Park" initiative, a campaign to promote the lesser known parks across the country. We spent the day exploring the park, hiking sand dunes, sharing lots of laughs while kayaking and listening as the park rangers filled us in on some of the fascinating stories about the national lakeshore. Sinéad O’Connor achieved pop culture immortality with a soulful cover of “Nothing Compares 2 U” that built on the pain and vulnerability of Prince’s original, but the tears shed in the iconic video weren’t just for show. The ethereal voice and wounded eyes masked a past marred by child abuse, incarcerations, and tragedy, and those inner demons followed her through the gilded door of fame and haunt her to this day.
They ultimately led her to a New Jersey Travelodge, where she lived a solitary existence away from family in her native Ireland, whom she claims couldn’t cope with her mental illnesses.

Not so fast Savant — with the help of correspondent input, DVD Savant presents more information on David Swift’s adaptation of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying — correcting and modifying some assumptions in my first review. Don’t worry — it’s good reading.
A Savant article
This is an odd circumstance. I routinely update, modify, correct and de-stupidify DVD Savant reviews, but this time I’m taking a more radical step. In my March 25 coverage of Twilight Time’s Blu-ray of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, I made a big point of the fact that David Swift’s film adaptation had not made many changes. Several songs were dropped, but that would seem the right thing to do considering that the movie wasn’t planned as a Road Show — it’s only 121 minutes in duration and has no break for an intermission. The much missed...

The emotional moment happened while the two were on vacation in Maui, Hawaii — during an already explosive couple’s trip.

Conventional wisdom says no way the writers of this show kill off Joe Miller. How could they?
No. Freaking. Way.
No way would they throw down the gauntlet on the tragically hip ex-cop turned space cowboy with the boxing pedigree of Mickey Rourke's "Barfly" and the deadliest one-liners since Chevy Chase's "Fletch." Miller's the guy fans of this show tune in to see every week — the guy we all ask: what's he gonna do or say this week?
But after watching The Expanse Season 2 Episode 5 — a heart-rending, gut-wrenching tear-jerker if there ever was one — what else are we to think, after watching the sentient asteroid he hitched a ride on, with the only love of his life (or at least her consciousness) at the controls crash and burn on Venus?

“It’s a Beautiful Day” for Derek Hough.
The music video for Michael Bublé‘s new single “I Believe in You” dropped Friday, and the Dancing with the Stars alum stars in the clip, which he also directed.
Complementing the Canadian crooner’s lovesick lyrics, the video follows a couple’s love story, from childhood to old age, with Hough, 31, starring as the male protagonist.

“I don’t like tweeting,” Donald Trump said Wednesday. “I have other things I could be doing.” Some of the people who voted for him strongly agree. Trump told “Fox & Friends” that he uses tweets to correct the record because the news media is dishonest. But that doesn’t explain why he tweets about “Saturday Night Live.” Or Meryl Streep. Or “Hamilton.” A few self-declared Trump voters have staged interventions on Twitter… to get him off Twitter. What an emotional episode!
The best thing about Pitch is that it quite simply is a show with a lot of heart.
For the most part, Pitch Season 1 Episode 4 was a quiet episode. It was a much appreciated breather after the fun and excitement of Pitch Season 1 Episode 3. It did what this show excels at doing, which is delving deeper and slowly unraveling layers to not only Ginny, but all of the great characters she's surrounded by.
It took a bit, but we were finally properly introduced to Ginny's mother. I don't know about many of you, but I had been curious about the state of her relationship with her mom for some time. Up until this point, she had been mostly absent from the frenzy that has surrounded Ginny, and that just seemed odd.
So it wasn't surprising to see Ginny begging Evelyn to stay with her, or relying on Amelia,...

Wow. Just wow.
There was so much that happened on Gotham Season 3 Episode 4, I'm not even sure where to begin, so let's start at the end.
So Barnes is about to go dark. I can hardly wait. I can't even imagine what he's going to be like considering he's such a hard ass, but we know from several conversations he's had with Jim that he's got some hidden secrets behind that tough exterior.
I think it all has to do with his war experiences, but I'm not entirely sure. All I know is that I'm looking forward to seeing the high and mighty Barnes fall down the rabbit hole, if you will.
I don't understand why he was bothering checking out the pool of blood. He knew Alice's blood was dangerous, so why didn't he order some sort of cordoning off of the area?
I'm also a little concerned about Bullock's future.

I think if we give kids a break in education, we would have fewer crimes being committed. If we keep them on track, they know that they have options. Try as I might, I doubt I’ll ever be able to purge the image of Bonnie Bennett beheading Caroline Forbes from my memory.
Fortunately, that disturbing dismemberment was merely a dream sequence, one of several Bonnie experienced as she struggled to fight Rayna’s curse on Friday’s Vampire Diaries. Caroline and Enzo each gave it their best shot, entering Bonnie’s brain to locate the curse’s off switch, but neither achieved much success.
