In 1943, in the wake of the Allied amphibious landing on the Japanese-held Bougainville Island, four Marines are sent to scout the location of Japanese minefields.
The rendezvous point was filmed at Hanalei Pier located on Hanalei Bay on the northern shore of the island of Kauai in the state of Hawaii.
At about 1.05 min, as they are in the boat on the river Tony Curtis is rowing with only one oar at the back of the boat, but the boat is going too fast for just one person to be rowing that way. Also the oar is horizontal, hardly in the water at all when it would need to be vertical and fully submerged.
