Same story line as the Ernest Hemingway 1946 Burt Lancaster/Ava Gardner movie, The Killers which was remade with John Cassavettes, Angie Dickinson, and Ronald Reagan in 1964.
After Eddie flips the car killing Harold, he goes around to the window to fetch the gun. Harold's arm is hanging out the window, pretty much covered in blood. When the cops arrive, that arm is still hanging out the window, but hardly any blood on it.
