His ship seized by the Chinese Communists, American Merchant Captain Tom Wilder languishes in prison but Chinese villagers help him escape to sail them to Hong-Kong.
Despite having major billing (and name being one of the few to be on the poster), Anita Ekberg only has around 30 seconds of screen time, appears mostly in long shots and her single dialog is quiet. She was obviously, ridiculously miscast as a Chinese, the role was only given to her as a means of getting some experience in front of the camera.
Capt. Tom Wilder:
If you want a last look at home, you'd better take it now.
Tack: I looked.
When the ferry pulls into Hong Kong, they encounter a Royal Navy vessel with close-ups of the sailors. Ordinarily, British sailors wear a tally on their caps with the name of their ship printed on it. However, the sailors' tallies only have "HMS" on them and no ship's name.
The title is shown in Chinese characters, which dissolve into English.
