Based on true events from the life of Vice Admiral John Madison Hoskins (October 22, 1898 - March 30, 1964).
This movie was made in the middle 1950s when jets and helicopters were in use. For the WW2 scenes the large warning sign on the side of the carrier island. "Beware Of Jet Blast Propellers And Rotors" was masked to show just the words "Beware Propellers" .
