In New York, a gambler is challenged to take a cold female missionary to Havana, but they fall for each other, and the bet has a hidden motive to finance a crap game.
Both Vivian Blaine (Adelaide) and B.S. Pully (Big Jule) appeared previously in Greenwich Village (1944). In that earlier film, though playing a character similar to "Big Jule," Pully managed to sing and dance, to the delight of the movie audience.
