  • Critics were hard on this little sentimental movie going as far to write that Vittorio de Sica disgraced himself by appearing in such a weepie.

The title recalls that of William Wyler's 1945 masterpiece but it's a much lighter work.

A schoolteacher 's(Emma Grammatica) old school is to be torn down but the lady is not prepared to accept it.Her enemy is builder Valentini, but as anyone past infancy should know, when the father has a heart of stone, his son is the kindest of all young men.And guess with whom he will fall in love ? His sweetheart is none other than Julie (Antonella Lualdi) ,Miss Giannelli's niece.

All Miss Giannelli's former students will not let their old teacher down. Now grown-ups,they will be here when the inspector comes.....and they will tell all the old woman gave them (as in Pr Holland's opus ,40 years later).

If you like tear-jerkers,this film is for you.
