Outlaw T.J. "Jesse" James tries to kill insurance agent Milford Farnsworth, who has been mistaken for him in order to collect on a big policy.
The last period film made by Bob Hope. The rest of his films were contemporary comedies.

Paleface bite dust!
At the James' farm, Milford kills a gila monster. The gila monster is found only in the deserts of the American southwest and northwest Mexico. Jesse James's farm was in Missouri (in both the film and real life).
In various literary sources (Citadel press' "The Films of Gary Cooper" for one), both Gene Autry and James Garner are quoted making cameo appearances in the film, but neither is to be found in the present US video version.
