Margie Duncan, a dancer and actress who stood in for her dear friend Debbie Reynolds in films including The Unsinkable Molly Brown, The Second Time Around and The Singing Nun, has died. She was 92.
Duncan died Jan. 3 after a brief illness at her Porter Ranch home in Los Angeles, her family announced.
Duncan worked with choreographers in the movies to learn Reynolds’ routines, “dancing in” during blocking and rehearsals until the numbers were set. She would then teach the routines to her friend.
In the musical comedy The Unsinkable Molly Brown (1964), for which Reynolds received her lone Oscar nomination, Duncan rehearsed the number “Ain’t Down Yet,” which took place in the barnyard of Molly’s (Reynolds) country home, with choreographer Peter Gennaro.
Duncan jumped on the top of a shed to sing the last verse while walking backward down its thatched roof and then back up, finishing at the front of the roof.

Ozy has inked Jody Watley to a talent deal that includes a biopic on the Grammy-winning R&b singer-songwriter-producer.
Ozy and Watley have begun the search for writers to attach to the project.
“When I heard Jody’s story — one of overcoming the odds, of the power of positivity, of defying expectations — I knew it was one we had to share,” said Chris Rantamaki, executive director of Ozy Studios. “Fans will be surprised that Jody has overcome so many formidable challenges in her life that she has never revealed publicly. She is now ready to break her silence and we are honored she trusts us to tell her story.”
A former Soul Train dancer, Watley started out as part of the Los Angeles-based vocal trio Shalamar, which scored a Top 10 single with “The Second Time Around” in 1979 and continued charting into the mid-’80s. Her first solo hit was “Looking for a New Love,...

The opening credits of Paramount+’s reboot of beloved Nickelodeon cartoon Rugrats are mighty familiar.
Composer Mark Mothersbaugh’s synthesizer chimes away as the action follows the titular infants having a particularly lively play day in a suburban living room. Tommy Pickles does a handstand. Phil and Lil DeVille chase each other around. Angelica gets covered in dust from a vacuum.
While at first glance the new intro seems identical to the iconic original, there are some key updates. Grandpa Lou is not asleep on a LA-z-Boy, but up and alert, practicing yoga. Chuckie Finster is riding around on a Roomba-style wireless cleaner rather than a traditional vacuum. And of course, the whole thing is animated in a much more modern CGI-style.
Rugrats approach to updating its intro is the same approach it takes in updating…everything else. Paramount+’s version of the show, described as both a “reboot” and...

I interviewed Sean Porter for the first time early last year about his work on Jeremy Saulnier's slasher/thriller Green Room. The second time around was a bit brighter, a beach-side domestic dramedy: Mike Mill’s coming of age epic 20th Century Women. And here we are at interview three with his most expensive film, the Sony funded studio comedy Rough Night starring Scarlett Johansson, Kate Mckinnon, Zoe Kravitz, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer and which was directed by Broad City’s Lucia Aniello & cowritten by Paul W. Downs. In the gamut of the three, I’ve no clue where to place it.
On a technical, on-set structure spectrum I’ve got a better idea. Rough Night moved the fastest. Sean opens up about his first experience on a big budget studio film, how he managed to light at a breakneck multi-camera TV-style pace with bare minimum prep, and the perks of industry veteran reinforcements.

Cody might have been able to survive her identical twin sister Tash's first elimination. The second time around, the second Wells sister wasn't so lucky. Cody followed her sister off the America's Next Top Model runway the week after Tash's second elimination. Cody sat down with judge Drew Elliot to talk about her elimination, why she was angry her sister was eliminated and how her sister's return probably caused her own exit.

[[tmz:video id="0_vo4zuwim"]] Larsa Pippen made a tearful 911 call -- just 3 days after she placed a very similar call to police -- and said Scottie had "gotten crazy again." The NBA legend's wife called Fort Lauderdale Pd on Oct. 4, and this time she was more defiant and insisted police come to their home because he was breaking things. As we reported ... her first 911 call was made as Scottie stood next to Larsa, telling her to cancel the call for help.

The first time Kevin Hart and Ice Cube stopped by Conan to promote their movie Ride Along in 2013, the group wreaked hilarious havoc on a Lyft driver as they cruised through Los Angeles. The second time around, the costars of Ride Along 2 decided to up the ante with Conan O'Brien by having an unsuspecting student driver chauffeur them around town on Tuesday night. As Ice Cube dispenses nuggets of wisdom like "Tupac is one of the biggest thugs I know, and he always wore his seatbelt" to Conan stuffing a piñata full of weed, the video is nothing short of hysterical. Check it out above, then watch the trailer for Kevin's upcoming movie Central Intelligence.

Fargo season 2 offers up a detailed exploration of violence in The Gift Of The Magi, feat. a bonus appearance from Bruce Campbell...
This review contains spoilers.
2.5 The Gift Of The Magi
There are times that I check the running time of an episode of Fargo just to see whether it’s actually four hours long. This isn't because the fifty-odd minutes tend to drag, quite the contrary, but because the writers seem to cram so much into every edition and still appear to take their time in doing so. The Gift Of The Magi, for example, managed to examine the commission of violence, in some considerable detail, through two separate lenses.
The early shoot-out offered a look at violence through the eyes of the victims (if the brutal Kc mob could ever earn the soubriquet ‘victims’, it was here). Fast, bloody and utterly frenzied, the assault came...

The Butcher Bird was dropped, impaled on the never to read pile its first time around, not for future consumption – just out of spite – and forgotten rather quickly and not unthankfully so. Even while sporting some blurbage from Cyberpunk don William Gibson and capo Pat Cadigan, my worst fears seemed to becoming reality in the first few chapters, namely, another fringe ultra hip wannabee, smart ass protagonist – complete with the job as a tattoo artist and oh yeah…his sidekick is of course a quip-ready, lesbian version of himself – who together find out reality isn’t what it seems. Couple that with the first sip into the quantum-chaos looking-glass mug really reminded me of a favorite comic of mine from the early 90’s, Dark Dominion, published by Defiant comics created by Jim Shooter and the legendary Steve Ditko (indeed the subtitle of Butcher Bird is A Novel of the Dominion...

We think of Marvel Studios as having the golden touch with can’t-miss hit films one after the other. As a result, our selective memory obscures Hulk and Iron Man 2 (and for some, though not me, Iron Man 3) as creatively underwhelming. Instead, we look at the box office totals only and, ahem, marvel at their track record. As a result, some had their knives out ready to skewer the studio for being audacious enough to offer up Guardians of the Galaxy. After all, who ever heard of them? How quickly one forgets. Critics were saying the same thing in 2008 when Iron Man arrived, wondering if enough non-geeks would turn out to see a B-list hero with a former addict in the lead.
Even the entertaining trailers, which clearly signaled the tone was going to be substantially lighter, couldn’t make people hold their judgment. Then the film opened.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, from co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, once again brings Miller’s graphic novels to the big screen.
A sequel to the visually stunning Sin City 2005, A Dame to Kill For blends two of Miller’s comic book stories with a pair of new tangential storylines. Once again, crime and violence anchor the plot for the movie’s cast of characters, which includes stripper Nancy (Jessica Alba) cop Hartigan (Bruce Willis), poker player Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the monstrous Marv (Mickey Rourke). Josh Brolin, Rosario Dawson, Eva Green and Powers Boothe also star.

American Idol returned on Wednesday with Caleb Johnson, Jena Irene and Alex Preston battling it out for a spot in the finals next week, while celebrating the singing competition’s 500th episode.
American Idol Recap
Before the Idol hopefuls took the stage, the program featured a montage of some of the show’s greatest moments over the season, which included flashbacks to Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken and even William Hung. Past winners Phillip Phillips, David Cook, Kris Allen, Candice Glover, Lee DeWyze, Fantasia Barrino, Scotty McCreery, and Jordin Sparks all offered their thanks via taped video messages.
Singing “Never Tear Us Apart” by Inxs, chosen by Randy Jackson, Caleb Johnson powered through despite a case of bronchitis and “small vocal cord” hemorrhage. All of the judges agreed that the mentor had selected a good song for Johnson and that despite the setbacks, the singer did a more than commendable job.

Blame it on the witches. "American Horror Story: Coven" cast a spell on viewers, and nowhere was this more evident than at PaleyFest. While the show has always been a reliable hit at the event, this year the fan reaction seemed, well, more ardent than usual. Young fans asked the cast for hugs. One asked for a job. Evan Peters got a hand-knotted panda bear cap, while Sarah Paulson got letters, a T-shirt, and was asked on a date by one young female admirer. There was screaming. A lot of screaming. As one woman sitting behind me grumbled, "This isn't a One Direction concert." Despite the similarities, the audience still managed to learn a lot -- even (gasp) details about the top-secret coming season, "Freak Show." Anchorman 2 was released this past week and, so far, the response has been fairly positive. By now, fans of Anchorman are well aware of the difficulties that were involved in getting the sequel made in the first place, but given that the first one has become such a cult classic, it seemed weird that Paramount were initially so hesitant about the idea. "The Carrie Diaries" fall finale, "The Second Time Around," had some good news and some not so good news for Carrie Bradshaw. The young writer-in-training finally chopped off those training wheels and got her first byline in Interview Magazine, but had to say goodbye to her boyfriend Sebastian after just getting back together. Did they break up? Not really ...
After Carrie convinced Maggie to come clean to her father about who actually knocked her up (and subsequently put her in the hospital when her pregnancy had complications), her father fired Simon from the force. Then, his fiancé found out he had been cheating on her with a 17-year-old girl and dumped him, so he stormed over to the school to harass Maggie and call her some pretty awful names.

Don't believe us? Well, Zap2it has an exclusive first look at Friday (Dec. 20) night's new episode, "The Second Time Around," to prove it. At a holiday party, Samantha's most recent romp is none other than Carrie's interview subject. But will he be as entertained by their connection as Samantha was by their impromptu "bangoing?" Not so much.
Watch the exclusive clip below:
"The Carrie Diaries" airs Fridays at 8 p.m. Et on The CW.

All right you kids, get out of the pool! Time to give the adults a chance to have some fun! Now by “pool” I really mean movie romances, perhaps even the much maligned “rom-com”. Middle aged folks can still meet cute and fall in love, right? Even if they’ve been down the aisle before. I mean, it’s possible. Just like in the old crooner standard “The Second Time Around”. That notion is explored in the new film from independent writer/director Nicole Holofcener. She’s made a name for herself over the last decade with her low-key character studies which always feature the talented actress Catherine Keener. Holofcener has also been prolific in television and has cast several TV stars in her last couple of features like Jennifer Aniston in Friends With Money. Her new film casts two iconic tube actors in this tender love story with a rather offbeat title,...

Take a nightmare ride on the Los Angeles subway in the dark and creepy music video directed by Waylon Bacon for The Lumerians’ atmospheric tune “Life Without Skin.”
A single gal riding the rails late at night — that’s never a good idea! — is pursued by ghoulish, inhuman monsters on the train. Then, after getting deposited in a desolate area of downtown, her journey continues into even darker territory until she is virtually consumed by malevolent forces.
Bacon, known for his twisted, grotesque comedy short films such as Help Wanted and Poster Boy, goes for a full-blown horror vibe here with spectacular results. His style also proves to be a perfect match for The Lumerians’ haunting melody, creating a unique piece that works just fine as both an original short film and a music video.
It’s a very disorienting video, heightened by the fact that the protagonist, who is never seen in full,...

Cyndi was really struggling with lobsters on "Hell's Kitchen" this week. First, she overcooked them, leading to a rather unique response from a frustrated Chef Gordon Ramsay.
He threw the lobster at the wall, shouting at her that "it bounces off the f*cking wall!” He then made Cyndi pick the lobster up off the floor and try again.
“Ramsay chucks the poor fish at the wall. Amazing!" marveled Buddy TV at Ramsay's antics. "He then instructs Susan to pick it up. They have to keep the kitchen tidy, right?”
Believe it or not, though, Cyndi proved incapable of getting it right. The second time around, her lobster was cold. This earned her entire team a screaming session. This appeared to work, though, as they fought their way into a tie with the other team.
In the end, it was Zach who got sent home, so Cyndi survives another week...

This’ll learn them rich people! Check out a new trailer and poster for Neill Blomkamp’s “Elysium”. The second time around features lots of humor and lots of crazy action. This thing looks Nuts, even if the film’s social elements are a tad on the nose. Like a big ol sledgehammer to face obvious, I mean. But hey, the movie looks crazy action-packed, so that’s cool. In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens’ luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance bring...

The stylish star re-wore a dress from 2009! Do you think it’s so cool that she recycled the dress or was it a fashion flop? Vote!
Sienna Miller, 31, was spotted at the 69th Annual Theatre World Awards wearing the same patterned Isabel Marant dress that she first debuted at a special screening of G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra four years ago. Move over, Kate Middleton and Michelle Obama — you aren’t the only recyclers in town anymore!
Sienna Recycles Dress:
The second time around she took a much similar approach to the outfit, again wearing black booties and a red lip. She also stuck with straight hair, however in 2009 her bangs were swooped over to the side.
When the look was first shown on the runway, the model wore it with a belt and fur jacket, however, Miller decided against both pieces and made it her own. As for jewelry,...

Creating a new, unique take on the found footage horror subgenre has become increasingly difficult in recent years. For every successful and clever Paranormal Activity, there’s an equally unimaginative counterpart, like The Devil Inside. Sequels in the genre, such as the Paranormal Activity follow-ups, in particular haven’t fared as well with critics and audiences, as the storylines and visuals seem to become repetitive and uninspired. But the new horror thriller, V/H/S/2, has actually earned higher praise than its predecessor, last year’s horror film V/H/S, in part to its cunning visuals and more cohesive storyline.
V/H/S/2 follows two private investigators as they break into a missing college student’s abandoned house, after being hired by his concerned mother. But instead of finding him, they instead find his large collection of mysterious VHS tapes. While viewing the contents of four of the videos,...

Ranbir Kapoor’s prank on co-star Kalki Koechlin on the sets of Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani went horribly wrong ultimately stalling shoot. It’s not the first time that Ranbir Kapoor has played prank on his Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani co-stars.
This time during the shoot of a wedding scene, the actor’s prank on Kalki Koechlin put her and him in a bit of a spot, quite literally!
A source says, “Ranbir, who was in a mischievous mood, was supposed to apply a small amount of turmeric paste on Kalki’s face. But instead of applying a little paste on her face for the shot, Ranbir went ahead and plastered it all over”.
To make things worse, Kalki’s sensitive skin reacted very badly to this act. Although the 29- year- old actress took the whole episode sportingly, the shooting came to a standstill. Because of the reaction Kalki...

Twilight Time has released the 1960 comedy High Time starring Bing Crosby as a limited edition (3,000 units) Blu-ray. Crosby's career as an actor has largely been neglected over the decades despite the fact that he was one of the most enduring boxoffice giants of his time. Perhaps the reason is that, unlike Frank Sinatra, who took on dramatic and challenging roles, Crosby was largely content to stick with playing amiable crooners in glossy, feel-good musicals. One such film is High Time, which was originally developed as a comedy titled Big Daddy for Gary Cooper. However, when Cooper became terminally ill, Crosby's production company picked up the option as a starring vehicle for Crosby himself. Der Bingle plays Harvey Howard, a 51-year-old self-made businessman who owns a national chain of popular smokehouse restaurants. Harvey decides to fulfill his dream of becoming the first family member to obtain a college degree.

After electing (or should I say re-electing) a president and enduring a brutal hurricane, who can feel guilty about pressing the “pause” button on serious business for a little while and relishing the prospect of a juicy double-elimination on Dancing With the Stars’ Week 8 results show?
A quick, pre-show review of the confusing array of combined scores over the past couple weeks hinted at one clear heave-ho from the All-Stars roster — yes, it looked like time was up for my beloved Kirstie Alley — plus a second, more unpredictable adieu. (Leaderboard be darned, anyone remains fair game at this point.)

Kylie Minogue has appeared on Dancing with the Stars. The singer opened Tuesday's (November 13) results show with a rendition of her 1987 hit 'The Locomotion', accompanied by several of the show's professional dancers. This week's contestants faced a double elimination, and Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were automatically eliminated having finished bottom of the leaderboard when the judges' scores and viewer votes were combined. Having received a warm ovation from the studio audience, Alley said: "The second time around was very special to me... to do it once was one thing, but to be asked to come back was an honour. "I want to thank Maks because he's so patient [with] me... and I love dancing. I want to thank the judges, because your critiques really help me." The second couple to be eliminated (more)...

In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Allen played a feisty, tough-as-nails beauty whose first romantic encounter with Indy had ended in Rick Blaine level heartbreak — for her. The second time around, they teamed up to find...

Sarah Polley's beautifully acted film about a marriage in crisis and an liberating affair is truthful and moving
Five years ago, the actress Sarah Polley made an impressive debut as writer-director with Away From Her, an adaptation of her fellow Canadian Alice Munro's superb New Yorker story The Bear Came Over the Mountain. It's about a professional couple in rural Ontario who, after 44 years of marriage, have to come to terms with the wife developing Alzheimer's disease, and it brought a well-deserved Oscar nomination to Julie Christie. Polley's second film, Take This Waltz, based on her own original screenplay, also involves the confrontation of a crisis in a Canadian marriage but this time featuring a much younger couple. The result is equally remarkable and immensely moving.
The film is seen almost entirely from the point of view of Margot, a 28-year-old freelance journalist, and Michelle Williams, one of...

Andy Griffith died on Tuesday at his California home at the age of 86. Though the late actor was most famous for his roles on television shows like "Matlock" and, fittingly, "The Andy Griffith Show," he made his splash in Hollywood with "A Face in the Crowd." The 1957 film was Griffith's big-screen debut.
Directed by the legendary Elia Kazan, "A Face in the Crowd" told the story of a charismatic country man, Lonesome Rhodes (Griffith), who gets plucked from obscurity by a local radio show producer and becomes a media sensation and political pundit. While "A Face in the Crowd" received mixed reviews upon its release, the decades since have been kind to the film -- especially with how it relates to the current cable news climate. Glenn Beck has been compared to Griffith's Lonesome Rhodes on more than one occasion.

The battle for eternal Mirror Ball glory on "Dancing With the Stars" has never been this evenly matched heading into the finals. But after tonight's performances, I know who I'm placing my bets on.
If you asked me who I thought was going to be the Season 14 champion in Week 1, I would have said William Levy. He has the full package. (Get your mind out of the gutter, Bruno.) He's incredible handsome, has a rabid fan base and he's not a bad dancer. Sounds like a win-win, right? Wrong.
In the last couple of weeks, William's "shake my hips, show my chest" routine has gotten old. Take his freestyle as an example. It offered little variation from what we've already seen William do. Lo siento, William, but I like my "Dancing With the Stars" winner to show a bit more variety.
