Howard Vernon continued to appear in a number of Franco's horror films up until his death In 1996.
In the English-dubbed version a female witness said about the perpetrator that "he walked like a robot". The story was set in 1912, and the word "robot" first appeared in a Czech science fiction play in 1921. The writer was Karel Capek.
Due to strict censorship laws, several scenes were cut out of the film (by dictator Francisco Franco) for the Spanish, British and American releases.
