Evil mastermind Dr. Mabuse seeks Professor Erasmus' secret invention, a device that makes one invisible, but a murder in a revue theatre brings the German police and the FBI into the mix.
The device that Professor Erasmus (Rudolf Fernau) wears on his chest is the same prop that was used in The 1,000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse (1960) as a remote control for the blast door in the basement of Hotel Luxor.
In the opening scene, it is obvious that Karl-Ludwig Ruppel is using a mechanical device to move the opera glasses supposedly being used by the invisible Dr. Mabuse. The movement lacks the fluid motion of a human picking up the glasses and putting them down.
