In many scenes through the series crew members are shown smoking on or near aircraft. Smoking was never allowed anywhere near aircraft or ammo by the Air Force since day one. It was especially prohibited in the days when aviation fuel was 100 octane gasoline which was then used by prop-driven aircraft like the B-17.
