When Julie Olson is arrested for stealing a fur coat from a department store as a bid for attention from her parents, Addie and Ben, she gives her last name as Horton: the last name of her grandparents, Tom and Alice.
At the police station, young Julie Olson is given a gentle lecture by Dr. Horton, her grandfather. Her Uncle Mickey, a lawyer, is more harsh. At the Hortons, Marie enjoys time with her fiancé, Tony, when he has a strange dizzy spell.
Julie pays a visit to her Aunt Marie. Her father Ben has a fight with her uncle Mickey about her upcoming trial for fur theft. Tony Merritt makes a mysterious phone call from Boston to his fiancee Marie.
Mickey and Ben talking about Julie, the judge and upcoming hearing Jim, Tony's friend, finds him in a bar and tries to get him to the airport. Tony says he's calling off the wedding. Tom and Tony's dad, Craig are going to have ice cream.
