Allied agents attempt to infiltrate the Nazis' rocket research site.
The title is the same code-name for the real World War II spy mission, which was code-named "Crossbow". After World War II, because of this movie's title, reference to these events popularized them as being "Operation Crossbow".
Dutch Barge Skipper:

Although piloted V-1s were built, they were launched from aircraft, not ramps. None were ever used in combat. Hanna Reitsch flew one to establish why other pilots crashed them on landing. She found that the problem was caused by the aircraft's exceptionally high stall speed.
