Captain James T. Kirk and the crew of the Starship Enterprise explore the galaxy and defend the United Federation of Planets.
Had the series been renewed for a fourth season, producers planned to bring back Koloth from Star Trek: The Trouble with Tribbles (1967) as a recurring villain. The fourth season would also have seen Roger C. Carmel playing Harry Mudd for the third time, and an introduction of McCoy's daughter Joanna.
James T. Kirk:
Scotty, beam us up. - This line was never actually spoken in the television series.
The color of the Enterprise's phaser beams differ between episodes. In some they are blue, while in others the are red, yellow, or orange. The animation for the photon torpedoes also changes from a red-orange color to the more-often-seen white-colored animation.
In the latter part of the first season, the credit, in all-uppercase, for "SCRIPT SUPERVISOR", has the first word misspelled "SCPIPT".
