The film seems to indicate that Elsa's week on her own began before the rains and ended afterwards. Depending on the season, the rains continue for either four weeks or six weeks. During the rains, generally speaking, by mid-morning the sun would come out, with the rain beginning to fall shortly after sunset each night. Regardless, the ending of the week coinciding with the end of the rains would have put this roughly during the last week of November or the middle of May.
Immediately after the scene when Elsa fights the lioness and the Adamsons are preparing to leave, the weather is clearly of a rainy season, as the afternoon clouds gather before the nightly rains are about to begin.

Before George has told Joy that he still has Elsa while they are driving back you can tell he isn't situated directly behind the steering wheel but rather a little to the left of it. Perhaps this is why the truck is shown swerving?
