Quotes

  • Baron Von Grunen : The shot that you just fired, Grauman, either broke the microphone that I believe is hidden in this room, or the eardrums of the man who was listening in. Oh, behind the paintings or the lamps, no doubt. I'm telling you all this as a warning. Mistrust everybody!

Eddie Chapman : [nonchalantly]  Oh, I always have.

Baron Von Grunen : [emphatically]  I mean *everybody* - without exception. Clear?... Goodnight, Franz Grauman.

  • Baron Von Grunen : [referring to the failed assassination attempt on Hitler's life in July, 1944]  When the aristocracy of the German Army cannot even blow up one single room at a given time, we deserve to lose. We're doomed.

  • Colonel Steinhager : Colonel von Grunen, you are under arrest.

Baron Von Grunen : [calm and calculated]  I resist arrest, Steinhager.

Colonel Steinhager : [a bit taken aback]  You resist arrest, sir?

Baron Von Grunen : You know what your orders are if I resist arrest. I command you to carry out your orders!

[turns his back and proceeds to slowly walk away. Steinhager hesitates to shoot von Grunen in the back, but Keller doesn't]

Colonel Steinhager : It wasn't necessary. Somebody else would have done it for us
