Swinging sixties film that falls flat
A German swinging sixties film that tries to be fun but loses its way half way through.
A Munich company boss, Christian Bongert, played by Dietmar Schönherr, is using the firm's warehouse no 6 as a secret love nest. When the American parent company sends an attractive female auditor in to check the books, it looks as if the German branch will be closed down when the extent of the fraud is revealed.
The company's straitlaced Buyer, Otto Zander (Gunther Philipp), volunteers to take the rap to save the company from disaster, and eventually has to go on the run from the police as a suspected "Billion Mark Fraudster"
The film revolves around Zander's deception as the user of the hidey hole, and the contrast between his formal and unemotional character and the use of the company's assets for amorous adventure is meant to be pivotal for the rest of the film. Instead it just descends into silly slapstick at this point and whatever plot there was disappears.
There are some interesting character parts, but a few more young actors would have helped maintain the swinging atmosphere better: all the main actors were born before the First World War and I'm afraid it shows.
