In 2020, the UK's itv4, one of the tv channels operated by itv, itself the outright owner of the Rank Organisation period of the "Carry On" films, was showing a 12:9 cropped version of the film. Considering the ITV Archive would likely now contain the original Rank wide-screen film version, the legacy Rank/Carlton/Granada Media cropped Home Video versions, and possibly their defunct ITV regional broadcasters copies, its likely that just the wrong ratio version was delivered for broadcast.
Girl:
Excuse me but they sent me from the exchange. I'm the new canteen girl. Can you tell me where I go?
Vic Spanner:
Oh Yes. I was just going in myself, I'll show you where it is. Yes, we've got a lovely pair of canteens here and a nice load of people.
When Lewis and Myrtle are in the cinema, Spanner can be clearly seen sitting behind them holding his silver motorcycle helmet in his lap. But then the film cuts to him shuffling along the row, with Bernie, going to their seats. When the film cuts back to Lewis and Myrtle, Spanner can be seen in the same position as before.
The original cinema version was cut by the BBFC to remove cruder dialogue lines including "All the time it's prick, prick, prick" (followed by "so the girls say"), "I hope the other arm is doing as well", and "Something important has come up"(followed by "Won't it keep"). The latter line has been restored to video/DVD releases though other cuts may no longer survive.
