A veteran cop with more than twenty years of experience is teamed with a young Inspector to solve crimes in San Francisco, California.
The Streets of San Francisco debuted on ABC on Saturday, September 16, 1972, at 9 p.m. Eastern, competing against two popular CBS sitcoms, The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970) and The Bob Newhart Show (1972). After Streets gained attention on Saturday nights during the first season, the show was moved to Thursday, where it stayed for the remainder of the run, beginning with the second season, competing against other successful 1970s crime dramas, in different time slots.
End credits (from seasons 2-5): Photographed Completely On Location in San Francisco. In season 1, the production was split with exteriors filmed in San Francisco and interior scenes filmed at the Burbank Studios in Burbank, California.
