Over the years, Willona's ex-husband had 3 different names: Alvin, Ray, and Roger. He appeared in 1 episode, as Ray.
Though the show is set in Chicago, New York City born Bernadette Stanis, who plays Thelma, often speaks with a Brooklyn accent during the first few seasons.
Starting near the end of Season Four, and continuing throughout the rest of the series, the "Cabrini-Green" housing project backdrop outside of the Evans' window changed, revealing a glaring mistake of scale and perspective.
The left side of the backdrop stayed as it had in earlier seasons (with a view of another Cabrini-Green brick tower across the way), while the right side of the backdrop showed a Chicago skyline, with the Hancock Tower in the background (as it should have looked when viewed from the former site of the Cabrini-Green housing project). This backdrop is correct visually.
For an unknown reason, near the end of Season Four, the right side of the backdrop (which formerly showed the Chicago skyline) changed to a "visual repeat" of the left side of the backdrop (the Cabrini-Green brick tower). The scale and perspective of this "repeat" of the backdrop results in a background that could not possibly exist in real life - the size of the floors of the building do not line up, and the scale of the floors of the building on the right does not match with those on the left (one floor on the right side equals four floors on the left).

The front door of the Evans apartment is seemingly never locked. People just walk in without knocking.
While it's obvious that the unnamed building the Evans live in is in the Cabrini-Green projects as seen in the opening and closing credits, the address mentioned for the building - 721 North Gilbert Avenue does not exist in Chicago. its actually in the suburbs to the west of Chicago.
