A nouveau riche, African-American family who move into a luxury apartment building develop close, if occasionally fractious, relationships with other tenants.
Mike Evans left the show after the first season to work on Good Times (1974), which he co-created. By the time his replacement Damon Evans quit the series, Good Times (1974) had been cancelled, enabling Mike Evans to return to the role of Lionel for... ...
Lionel, you'd better go to your room. I don't want you to get hit by your father.
Lionel Jefferson: Why would Dad hit me?
Louise Jefferson: Because I'm not sure just where I'm going to throw him!
Numerous times on and off throughout the course of the series, people make a left when they leave through the exit of the Jeffersons' apartment. So it means logically they are just walking right into the door of Bentley's apartment instead of going straight across to the elevator.
