Resenting the iconoclastic vision of the character, the heirs of Edgar Rice Burroughs pressed charges to prevent any use what so ever of Tarzan's name in the film. Original 85 minutes French-language version was cut to 79 minutes to avoid a X rating in the USA and released with new dialogue rewritten by Saturday Night Live (1975)'s scriptwriters and dubbed by that show's stars John Belushi, Bill Murray and Christopher Guest.
