According to Leconte (in the documentary Un jour, un destin: Jean Rochefort, cavalier seul (2014)), at a moment, the tension between him and Rochefort, who did not agree with the direction, became so high that they did not speak to each other for the rest of the film. Actually, it is Rochefort who told Leconte that it would be better if they did not talk to each other anymore. For a moment, Rochefort even pulled out of the film but finally returned, starting giving directions to the crew and Leconte doing nothing about it, until the crew rebelled against Rochefort and Leconte took back the control of his film. Nevertheless, Leconte takes responsibility for Rochefort's erratic behavior, admitting that he did make some mistakes in the way he directed his first feature film.
