Set against the backdrop of the early Cuban revolution, perfect story line. The movie paints the picture of the beginning of the Castro administration. The film should be viewed from an historical perspective. Strongly recommend that for anyone looking at this film to do so with an open mind. Painted the overall picture of life in Cuba and radical changes the revolution brought about. It portrayed the mass development of the Cuban people and gave a better appreciation for the revolution. Dealt a lot with the revolution 'propoganda' usually associated with a socialist type of government. It however highlighted the positive aspects of such a society. The main plot was the revolution's plot to educate the Cuban public, especially in rural Cuba. May appear anti-American at times, but adds to the realism of the film. Great acting and cinematography. Perfect for anyone interested in low budget foreign films, even better for Cuban enthusiasts. All round, good movie, although names and characters got confusing especially towards the end.
