The opening scenes in Transylvania are in some cases verbatim from the novel Dracula, including nearly the entire arrival scene of Harker at Dracula's castle.
Wilhelmina 'Mina' Westenra:
You'll write often?
Jonathan Harker: Every day, Mina, I promise.
Wilhelmina 'Mina' Westenra: And I promise to study my shorthand so that I shall be able to do your letters when we're married.
Lucy Westenra: Jonathan! Jonathan! Time for you to go.
Jonathan Harker: Yes, of course.
During the opening scenes of Harker taking a train into Romania, the stock footage appears to be taken from an American western film, showing open desert and prairies. This in no way resembles the actual countryside of Southeastern Europe, which is heavily forested with hills and mountains.
The credits are superimposed over the infamous German woodcuts depicting the crimes of the historical Voivode Vlad Dracula.
