There were rumors that Teruyoshi Nakano started work on the special effects for this film, but his contract ran out, so Sadamasa Arikawa took over.
    • Goofs
Watch the end carefully. When the helicopters are shooting Utam to pieces, the impact of the rounds on his body, considering how big he is, should be tiny. But they're huge, as if the weapons being used are his size. Also when Samantha and Johnny are wounded, the rounds should have torn off their limbs, not just scratched them.
    • Alternate versions
Original European version with title Colossus of Congo has an alternate ending to the Hong Kong version.

    Well...
"The Mighty Peking Man" has dashes of originality, laughable special effects, and a busty babe without much clothing, but it isn't inspired and is pretty lifeless. It probably would have made a good MST3K episode, but it's really dull in its regular format. You must admit that it's better than many "Godzilla" pictures, though. (*/****)
