  • This movie is a depiction of a real fact, the war between Romania and Russia against the Turkey Empire. Beside the realistic scenes of heroic atacks of romanian elite soldiers (named "dorobanti" or "caciulari", from their fur caps) against the fortified lines of the turkey army, one conclusion must be drawn from this movie: it is important to win a war but more important is to win the peace after that war. I recommended it for those who love history.
  • work of the context - the celebration of a century from the conquest of national independence -, the series is a large fresco. the political command is not absent. but it is not the axis of a film more patriotic than nationalist. because it remains a remember and a honest homage to the heroes of Romanian independence. because the traits of characters are more than white/black drawings . because the experience of Sergiu Nicolaescu gives a precise and touching portrait of the Romanian society, using pieces from ordinaries lives for reflect a state , hope and motivation of heroism. so, a fresco. maybe, an useful one.
