On its maiden flight, the crew of America's first supersonic transport learns that it may not be able to land, due to an act of sabotage and a deadly flu on-board.
Peter Graves and John de Lancie, who played romantic rivals here, squared off as adversaries in the premiere episode of Mission: Impossible (1988). de Lancie appeared in Final Descent (1997), which was similarly set on an airliner with inoperative controls.

Despite the fact that all commercial supersonic aircraft, proposed or realized, were designed with cabins having no more than 4 passenger seats per row, the interior of the aircraft depicted in this film is clearly that of a 747 wide-body.
One brief scene involving nudity was added to attract some interest in a foreign theatrical release. It involved Misty Rowe who had become known for her Marilyn Monroe role in Goodbye Norma Jean.
