Young and attractive woman Sylvia (Corinne Cartier) runs a successful fashion boutique and neglected by her husband Kurt. He is more interested in TV and six-packs than the charms of the opposite sex which makes her frustrated. During the trip to a psychoanalysts congress, she dreams similar to Jong's heroine Isadora while reading the emancipatory novel titled Joy of Flying Into Own World. First she has sex with her girlfriend's lover and then an affair with the businessman Jörg. She finally realizes that the total enjoyment of all sexual day and night dreams alone makes no one a free person.

Alternate versions
The German-language version that appears on DVD in that country contains two small cuts. The first, while Gianni Garko's character is on the telephone as the young woman tries to seduce him, the scene cuts away after the woman reveals her panties. In the uncut version, it cuts back to the older woman on the phone, then back to Garko and the young woman making love, while the telephone is off the hook. Another cut occurs as Sylvia is swimming and a dark-haired man swims up behind her. They struggle, then the German version cuts to the next scene. In the full version, after a brief struggle, Sylvia's friend tells her to relax and enjoy, and there is a brief underwater love scene.

What fun!

I saw this many years ago on CINEMAX under the title: The Joy of Flying. It was typical of these outstanding bedroom farces that the Europeans were so adept at in the 1970s and VERY early 1980s. It is a lovely little comedy and I absolutely ADORE this film. The stunning transsexual AJITA Wilson is in it and there is a SIZZLING scene at her villa and I don't wish to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen this film. There are laughs galore and non-stop fun and one just FEELS GOOD after watching this film. Why isn't it available on DVD or VHS? It is a pity that so many settle for the utterly unfunny "adult comedies" that FILL the rental stores as well as the DVD/VHS retailers' shelves.

If anyone of influence reads this PLEASE invest in reissuing this little gem.
