The external shots of Sydney Town and other colonial homes were filmed at the Old Sydney Town tourist attraction at Somersby NSW. Old Sydney Town closed in 2003 after 28 years of operation and was favourably visited by many schools when studying Australia's pioneer and convict settlement times.
Convict Polly McNamara has her hair cut off by the soldiers whilst still aboard the ship that brings the convicts to NSW. However, 7 years later, and Polly's hair is still very short. This was not the style at the time, and it should have grown well past her shoulders over this period.
