TV Mini-Series | PG-13 | | Drama
In Hawaii in 1941, a private is cruelly punished for not boxing on his unit's team, while his captain's wife and second-in-command are falling in love.
There's a scene where Captain Holmes (Roy Thinnes) mentions to Sergeant Warden (William Devane) about "company punishment" for Private Prewitt (Steve Railsback). This is a non-judicial-type of punishment meted out for minor infractions, and usually consisted of extra duty, et cetera. It was given for punishment (by the company Commander, and/or company First Sergeant) instead of a court-martial, so nothing would show up in the soldier's service record. The only "official" punishment, under the Articles of War, was court-martial.
All of the officers and enlisted personnel are wearing black neckties. At this time frame the Army had already changed to khaki neckties.
